Reimagining Education means providing choices for families during these ever-changing times
It can be challenging to find our footing in this ever-changing landscape. That is why Blue School is offering two program options for the 2020-21 school year — Onsite + Online and Fully Online. Both options take into consideration safety and wellbeing concerns, social and emotional needs of our children, the tenets of our balanced, student-centered, inquiry-based approach, and the best practices of our distance learning program. The information provided within our Reopening Plan is based on the latest available official guidance from local, state and national sources.
To learn more about the values that shaped our planning, please see our Guiding Principles.
Each of our Pre-primary, Primary, and Middle School pages offer additional information about their programs and a downloadable PDF specific to each division’s plans for 2020-21 school year.
No matter which Blue School Connected program you choose, your student and family will experience the hallmarks of a Blue School education.
Learn MoreWe believe children’s learning is enhanced by a vital school-to-parent partnership. Blue School parents are dedicated collaborators in this unique educational experience. We foster this crucial relationship by providing numerous opportunities to encourage parents to exchange ideas with school leaders, support parents through the Families Association, affinity groups, round tables with child development specialists, and ongoing Blue Notes speaker series with thought leaders in education and human development, such as our Advisory Board Members Sir Ken Robinson, Dr. Dan Siegel and authors Mira Jacob, Caroline Welch and more. Over the course of the year, our full parent body comes together for community-wide programming that continues to define the Blue School experience.
Blue School’s podcast, On Balance was developed with families in mind. Each week educators and experts provide insight and practical ideas to support parents as they manage in-home learning, working and living. Never miss an episode, by subscribing via iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher or wherever you get your podcasts.
“We have been blown away by our teachers’ dedication and their unique ability to truly understand, motivate and nurture each individual child in the class...They have made each child feel supported, loved, and ready for 3rd grade; both academically and emotionally.”
- Monica Slack, class parent, on behalf of all 2nd A families
“My daughter has been a part of this school and its community since she was 2 years old. It has rooted for her on her worst of days, buoyed her in her saddest moments, and has helped shape and mold her into the human she is today - always enthusiastic to learn, always eager to share, and always so glad to be here.”
- Shino Moffitt, 5th grade parent
“In our first year at Blue School, we can see our children's unique brilliance expanding in profoundly beautiful ways!”
- Aleijuan King, 5th and 7th grade parent
“[Blue School has] fostered my son’s curiosity at an exceptional level with the virtual mediums available. I have noticed this particularly through the water experiments, provocations, story telling, the journaling, and making activities. All of which have meant he could explore his own way, as open ended as possible leaving no limit.”
- Lucia Stoisor, 4/5s parent
