The Blue School Connected Pre-primary program is built on the values of unwavering respect for children and their capacities; belief in the vast potential of children’s curiosity and creativity; and the importance of community, connection and a sense of belonging.
Our work is built on a deep understanding of each individual child. We focus on community and developing a sense of trust, comfort, engagement and authentic relationships between children, families and teachers.
Young children seek to understand, create and connect with others and with the world around them. In the Blue School Connected Pre-primary program, we nurture this innate motivation to explore and learn by listening and responding to children’s questions and ideas, working with materials that allow children to engage all of their senses, and creating opportunities for collaboration, discussion and meaningful relationships.

No matter which Connected program you choose, your child and family will experience the hallmarks of a Blue School education.Learn More
We believe children’s learning is enhanced by a vital school-to-parent partnership. Blue School parents are dedicated collaborators in this unique educational experience.
In Blue School Connected Pre-primary program, children learn to value being part of a community – considering other perspectives, building friendships, and developing a flexible, respectful and caring attitude towards others. Family sings, read alouds and community meetings (for 4/5s) offer dynamic environments and opportunities for collaboration, discussion and meaningful relationships.
An essential aspect of the Blue School Connected Pre-primary program is building partnerships with families and caregivers to support children’s learning experiences and communicate with one another about the child’s growth and well-being. Regular conversations are integrated into the program – with teachers, the division director, child development consultant, and studio and materials specialist. We offer resources in various formats to support family and caregiver understanding of our programmatic approach and principles of child development.
“Our students make meaningful connections with peers and teachers, become more competent, resilient and empathetic, and express their deep powers and incredible creativity in ways that continue to delight and astound us. There is so much to celebrate, and we look forward to doing this together with all of you.”

Live sessions, in-person and at-home projects and materials experiences are designed to support children’s problem-solving abilities, communication and collaboration skills, and exhibit developmentally appropriate growth within a meaningful context.
Building on young children’s inherent creativity, curiosity and sense of experimentation, Blue School fosters experiences that are joyful, spontaneous and lead to new possibilities. Small group experiences with dramatic play, materials explorations or group storytelling are just a few examples.
Children in Pre-primary, from 2s through 4/5s, are supported to develop an awareness of themselves and the people around them. Teachers help children to understand their feelings and responses to situations and interactions, and to express through language and other mediums in ways that can be understood and received by others.
